 January is National Radon Action Month</p>
 <p>AUGUSTA - Radon\, a naturally-occurring radioactive gas\, is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers according to the Surgeon General and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  In an effort to spread the word about radon\, its effects and where it is found\, January has been designated as National Radon Action Month.<br />
 	The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) has partnered with Spruce Environmental Technologies to provide low-cost professional radon training courses to interested Maine residents. Registration for these classes continues through the end of the month.</p>

SUMMARY:Radon Prevention and Remediation Workshop
DESCRIPTION:<p>This Workshop arises from the project “Radon Prevention and Remediation” (http\://web.jrc.ec.europa.eu/radpar/) which has received funding from the Executive Agency for Health and Consumers (EAHC)\, European Union\, in the framework of the Health Programme 2008 – 2013. </p>
 <p>The Workshop’s main objectives\:<br />
 I. To gain a better understanding of the health risk related to radon existing in the indoor environment and play a key role towards the radon prevention and remediation\;<br />
 II. To disseminate the results and the merits of methodology tools of the RADPAR project\;<br />
 III. To identify the opportunities for exploitation and dissemination\, after the formal completion of the project\, by policy makers\, health professionals and relevant stakeholders\, as well as to receive feedback from them.</p>
 <p>The attendees are expected to cover their own expenses and stay. The workshop will cover coffee breaks and light lunch.</p>
