Wisconsin Addresses Radon During the Pandemic

Wisconsin Department of Health Services provide information about how Radon Mitigation is Impacted by COVID-19 at https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/impacts.htm. The Department refers to The American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists fact sheet “ Radon Mitigation Jobside Guidance During COVID-19.”

The fact sheet addresses social distancing and jobsite safety guidance for best practices to keep contractors and customers protected when radon work is performed. See https://aarst.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/AARST-COVID-19-Radon-Mitigation-Guidance-.pdf This includes guidance on social distancing, hygiene, monitoring and focus on critical activities.

About one in ten homes in Wisconsin has elevated radon levels. For those homebound, the Department encourages testing and mitigation. An interactive map is provided at https://wi-dhs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=68f3a3e068854810b626d002ce47aff4 so that residents may query the data and find information about their locations by zip code. The website also provides a short video on Radon 101 at https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/radon/index.htm
