A SAD NOTE AT THIS TIME ,WE HAVE BEEN
INSTALLING RADON SYSTEMS FOR THIS BUILDER FOR OVER 15 YEARS. WE ALWAYS USE THE
INTERRIOR ROUTING ON HIS NEW HOMES. HE DOES BUILD A NICE WELL DETAILED FINE
HOME. BUT TO THINH THIS IS ALL HE COULD COME UP WITH FOR COST SAVINGS IN THESE
SLOW TIMES GIVES ONE REASON TO TAKE PAWSE.  JIM MXC DONALD

I'm sure the new owners wouldn't
mind a vent pipe covering a window, the blinds will hide it!

We had several builders attempting
an outside pipe design very similar to this here in PA a number of years
ago.  Some of the problems with the design were no
good way of installing a system failure indicator and the fact that the piping
formed a water trap where it passed under the footer and back up to the stone
layer.

All-
Just Thought I would
share with you a picture of the passive radon system we were asked to activate
last week.  The builder claims this new setup is helping pass the radon
test.  It is just two pipes run from the outside footer drain to the
surface.  They wanted to know how much money they would save if we just
attached one of our motors to it.  We explained to them there was no
guarantee  it would work and they would be charged for two systems if we
had to tear it out and start over.  They decided to abandon these pipes
and  let the professionals install a nice interior unit.

Why do we
distinguish between homeowners and builders?    Their lobbying
groups try really hard to make everyone think they own the home they are
building so they can do whatever they want.  Yet they have no more
knowledge of radon reduction than the typical homeowner.  Maybe we should
just group them as one entity: homeowners.
