Any other state radon programs in danger of being eliminated?

Given the recent news about George in California, who else is worried?

Is there a way to prepare to make arguments against elimination? (i.e., data showing impact)

Can we help each other (such as posting on the Portal resource page letters to Governors in support of radon programs?).

California ends its radon program

User photo for: Jeff Miner

According to an email I received from the California Radon Program Director, George Faggella, the California budget crisis has caused the Department of Public Health Radon Program to be dropped. George says he will try to keep the web site up, but will be unable to update it or provide any other radon support because he is being reassigned to a water quality department within the Department of Public Health. I have tried to find out where the decision was made to cut the program; at the State Budget level or the Department of Public Health level. Small difference, since it's the budget crisis hitting home in either case. How this will effect radon professionals and the general public in California and across the nation is not clear, but it can't be good.
