Obviously, they will have to move the stuff temporarily. If it is going back in, I suggest at least a 12-mil cross-linked barrier material with mechanical fasteners as well as sealant. Some of that "dimple mat" material laid under the berrier ought to work well. It is pretty crushproof.

Subject: [RNPROF] Crawl space junk?
A vacation home I have tested, built over a
crawlspace has high levels of radon so the homeowner wants to mitigate. Only
problem the crawlspace is VERY full of their "stuff" and they seem
reluctant to have it moved or permanently removed. If a SMD system is installed
over the entire 900 sf space, can the stuff that covers approximately 500 sf be
put back on top of the plastic without affecting the system's functioning
properly?  Can we build a system of pallets to keep the items raised
off the plastic? any ideas or experience with this? Thanks.
